Cheer squad wins in Springfield

Sweet Home High School cheerleaders perform at a Springfield High School tournament held on Saturday, their first competition of the year. They finished first among eight teams. “Everything went fantastic except for the pyramid,” said Coach Amber Rosa. “It was a mess, which is a fluke for us.” The team is doing well, she said. Usually the team holds off on some of the more difficult parts of its routine. This year, the team has held off on very little of the difficulty and will add only a little more difficulty in the coming weeks. Finishing second was Hidden Valley. Klamath Union, the most likely threat at state, had a difficult day at Springfield and finished third. The Huskies move on to the Crusader Challenge at Jesuit High School in Portland on Saturday.
