The Huskies won one and lost one against Creswell in their opening game in girls soccer Friday on the road.
The junior varsity won 3-2 in a game that also included varsity players, said Coach Ramiro Santana.
At the varsity level, “we got killed,” Santana said. That was the only way to describe it.
The Huskies lost 7-0 against a Division 3A state contender, Santana said. “They’re fast. You can’t compete against speed.”
The Huskies found some bright spots during the game, Santana said. “We got close, but nothing to be excited about. We finally got a couple of shots.
“Our girls did a good job. We just don’t have the experience. We’ve got a lot of really young kids.”
This was the team’s first game together, he said. In a year, it’ll be a different story.
Evens so, the refs congratulated them for playing that well against Creswell, Santana said.
Going forward, Santana said, he will make some changes and see what happens, he said. The Huskies host Taft on Thursday, Sept. 4 and visit Newport on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
