For the first time in several years, Sweet Home did not place at the Oregon Classic last weekend, as the Huskies finished second in their pool behind Tillamook.
Crook County beat LaGrande 47-6 to win the tournament, with Scappoose third and Cascade fourth.
“The boys continue to compete and we’re working on getting better and better,” Coach Steve Thorpe said. “We’re focusing now on the regional tournament.”
He said Tyler Schilling and Anthony Hardee both had good weekends – both swept their matches – but they weren’t the only ones who stood out.
“We had a lot of guys being unselfish and moving up weights, trying to make us a better team before the regional tournament,” Thorpe said.
Up next for the Huskies is the Tournament of Champions this weekend at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.
