In a final tune-up for district April 30, Sweet Home placed fourth out of nine scoring teams in a 12-team invitational played on the Tokatee golf course that was the venue for the Sky-Em tournament early this week.
All five Husky players finished under 100, for the first time this season, the “best team score since I’ve been coaching at Sweet Home,” Coach Ken Anderson said.
Sweet Home was led by Christian Porter, who shot a 90. Michael Tolle was second with 93, followed by Stephen Bishop and Bryce Daniels (96) and Austin Yoder (98).
Westside Christian finished with 326 to take the team title, as all its players shot below 90, followed by Reedsport with 357 behind individual medalist Montana Frame (75), and Oakridge (376). Other Sky-Em teams in the event were La Pine, sixth with 384; and Cottage Grove, seventh with 388, and Junction City (400).
Missing was Sisters, which, Anderson said, may be the best team in the league.
