Sisters 3, Sweet Home 2
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead at Sisters on Friday but couldn’t hold onto it and lost 3-2.
The Huskies scored two in the third inning and then held the lead until the sixth when Sisters scored there runs, taking the lead on a walk by Nicky Blumm.
Weld reached base on a walk in the top of the third. He advanced to second while Hunter Jutte reached fist on a fielder’s choice. Weld stole third, and Jutte stole second. Weld scored on a passed ball, and Jutte advanced to third. Jutte scored on another passed ball.
Sisters scored on an error in the sixth inning and then scored twice on bases-loaded walks.
At bat, Kevin Seiber went 2-2, with a double. Kory VanDeusen and Drayson Scott went 1-3.
VanDeusen started on the mound, pitching 5 1/3 innings. He gave up four hits and four walks, striking out five batters. Scott pitched the last two outs, giving up one walk and striking out one.
The Huskies lost at Elmira 11-1 in five innings under the 10-run rule on April 17.
Elmira scored two in the first and added runs in each following inning, while the Huskies scored a run in the fifth when Rice reached on a fielder’s choice to shortstop. J.T. Weld scored the run, and Jutte was out at second.
Weld, Jutte and Rice each had a hit. Weld hit a double.
Cole Ashcraft gave up eight hits, four earned runs and a walk, striking out one in 2 2/3 innings. Brandon Marquez gave up a hit, three earned runs and six walks, striking out there in 2 1/3 innings.
The Huskies are 1-7 in league and 6-11 overall.
