The Sweet Home High School boys basketball team defeated Sisters 49-36 on the road Feb.
Combined with Friday’s 64-45 loss to Cottage Grove, it leaves the Huskies in the hunt for third place in league against La Pine, which the Huskies are scheduled to play at home on Friday.
The Huskies and Sisters played a close first half, with the Outlaws ahead 11-10 after the first quarter. The Huskies held a 25-22 lead at halftime.
“We came out in the third quarter and outscored them 20-4,” said Coach Tim Porter. “Mainly we just concentrated on our defense.”

Friday night at home, the Huskies played a close first half against Cottage Grove, leading 16-12 after the first quarter and trailing 33-28 at halftime.
“After they scored the first couple of minutes in the third quarter, they went into a stall,” Porter said, and the Huskies weren’t able to pry them out of it.
The Huskies trailed 51-36 at the end of the third.
The Huskies had to put Cottage Grove on the foul line early, he said, but Cottage Grove was hitting its free throws.
“We’re still in the hunt for that third place position in playoffs,” Porter said. It’s probably going to come down to Friday night’s game at home against La Pine.
There are a couple of scenarios that can play out this week, depending on how things go with Tuesday’s game at Elmira and hosting La Pine. If the Huskies win both, they finish third.
The Huskies lost 73-64 on the road the last time they saw La Pine.
