Despite a winless season, nine East Linn Loggers football players have been to the play in the National Nine-man Football League All-Star game on Aug. 4.
“Even though our season didn’t show it, our All-Star selections showed that once again we had very good athletes on the team,” said Coach Jesse Garcia Sr.
Selected to the team are:
– Rod Jaques- first team defensive end
– Ronnie Garcia- first team safety and second team punt returner;
– Jesse Garcia lll- second team quarterback, second team cornerback and second team punter;
– Trase Privratsky- second team running back, second team wide receiver and second team kick returner;
– Tony Webb- second team offensive guard;
– Chris Ropp- second team center and second team outside linebacker;
– Justin Poole- second team defensive tackle;
– Mike Johnson- second team defensive end;
– Craig Bergevin- second team middle linebacker.
Garcia Sr. said he believes Bergevin, who led the league for the third year in a row in tackles among middle linebackers, should have been named to the first team.
The game will be played at noon Saturday, Aug. 4, at South Eugene High School.
