East Linn Christian Academy runners, from left, Sara Helfrich, Wesley Anderson and Sidney Nichol, all from Sweet Home, competed Saturday, Oct. 31, in the state 3A/2A/1A cross-country championships at Lane Community College. Nichol finished sixth in the girls race, running 19:43 on a soggy course and leading the Eagles to a fifth-place finish. Helfrich was 48th overall, out of a field of 93 runners, and third for ELCA, in 22:46. The East Linn boys were fourth, with Anderson as their third runner. He finished 52nd out of 116 runners, in 18:29.
