Huskies down Harrisburg after falling to Molalla

The Huskies defeated Harrisburg at home 8-5 on Friday after losing 5-2 at Molalla on Wednesday.

Heading into league play, which was scheduled to start Monday evening at home against Elmira, the Huskies are 5-2 overall.

The Huskies recovered from an early Harrisburg attack to win 8-5 at home.

The Eagles scored twice out of the gate, but Sweet Home responded big in the third to take a 5-2 lead. They scored once in the fourth, and Harrisburg scored three times in the fifth. The Huskies closed the gate on the Eagles with two runs in the fifth.

Dylan Elder started on the mount pitching most of five innings, giving up five runs, three of them earned, and three hits. He walked four and struck out 12 batters. In relief, Brandon Keenon pitched two innings, striking out three batters and giving up no runs, hits or walks. D.J. Bidwell pitched briefly, giving up one walk.

At bat, Austin Rice went 2-2, scoring a run and hitting a double. Elder went 2-4 with a run.

Justin Tow hit a single with an RBI. Kevin Seiber hit a single with a run. Hunter Jutte hit a single with an RBI and a run.

Also scoring runs were Keenon, Cole Ashcraft, Keanu Aiona and J.T. Weld.

Harrisburg collected three hits.

The Huskies collected nine hits, but weren’t able to outrun Molalla on the bases, losing 5-2 on the road.

Only Jutte was walked among the Huskies, and they were only able to reach home once in second and sixth innings.

At bat, Brett Blachly connected twice with the bat and scored both runs. Keenon went 2-2, while Tow, Ashcraft, Elder, Weld and Jutte each singled.

Molalla collected four hits, and Ashcraft walked only two batters pitching the full game. The Indians were able to score five runs, three of them earned.

Ashcraft struck out six Molalla batters.

Each teams had one error.
