Cheerleaders fourth in season opener

The Huskies cheerleading squad placed fourth at a meet on Saturday at Springfield High School.

The team had a 10-point deduction for going over the time limit by seven seconds.

The team did a good job and looked sharp, said Coach Amber Rosa. Some of the Huskies’ best competitors were there, and her team looked better than many of them.

“The girls were happy with how they did,” Rosa said. “We had a couple of kinks, but you do on the first one.”

Those kinks will be easy to fix, she said.

Brookings placed first in the event. The Huskies would have placed second had they not exceeded the time limit. Klamath Union was second, with Cottage Grove third.
