Fun-Fueled LEGO Race

Six-year-old Brodie Gangle lines up three LEGO derby cars while his friend, Aria Sagan, 6, waits at the finish line. Brodie and Aria are the last to leave after having participated in Halsey Public Library’s LEGO Derby car race, held Saturday, July 19, at City Hall’s community center.

The event was the second in a series of Summer Reading Program activities, which aims to encourage reading in the summer. More than 30 kids signed up for the program this year which, Library Director Kaitlyn Watts said, is really good for such a small town. About 25 kids showed up for the LEGO Derby, which gave them the opportunity to build their own race cars before seeing whose car was faster.

Watts saw kids “really getting into it,” building aerodynamic cars. She will bring the activity back next year.
