Sweet Home’s Junior National Green team finished fifth in the state tournament held July 11-13 at Meldrum Bar Park in Gladstone. The Huskies opened the tournament facing Oregon City Coyle, the eventual champion, losing a 13-12 heartbreaker. Later Friday, they beat Neah-Kah-Nie after NKN was disqualified when they exceeded the allowable pitch count. to move on to the second day. However, on Saturday morning they lost another close one, 18-17 to Portland Christian, to finish fifth.
