Two area men were killed in a head-on collision that occurred earlier this month outside of Albany.
LCSO, along with firefighters and medics from Albany Fire Department, responded to multiple calls regarding a crash at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, in the 34000 block of Grand Prairie Road SE near Albany.
Initial reports indicated that two vehicles were involved, and one was on fire.
An initial investigation revealed that a 2004 Chevy Blazer and a 2020 Jeep Gladiator were traveling in opposite directions on Grand Prairie Road when they collided head-on. The driver of the Blazer, Michael Northern, 20, of Foster, and a passenger, Ronald Schrick, 74, of Lebanon, were both pronounced deceased at the scene.
A second passenger from the Blazer, along with the driver and passenger of the Jeep Gladiator, was transported by ambulance with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Linn County Multi-Agency Investigation Team.
