Group Effort for Soil Stabilization

Above, Khaidyn Patterson-Ramsey, center, uses a post pounder to drive a hole into the bank of the Santiam River while his brother, Kandyn, at left, and Dace Phearson watch.

This was how some Brownsville residents spent a Saturday morning in Lebanon on Oct. 25. It was part of a volunteer effort spearheaded by the Lebanon Garden Club to halt erosion along the bank at Riverview Park. More than 200 plant cuttings were placed along the bank. The Patterson-Ramsey brothers, both junior high students at Central Linn, joined the group to help Lebanon FFA teacher Mike Wilson, who was also there. They said it was fun and tiring at the same time.
