District Outlook
Going into the Mid-Willamette Conference district, which starts Wednesday, May 20, at Corvallis.
The Warrior boys are definitely most competitive in the short sprints – after his run at West Albany, Brown is one of three runners separated by one-hundredth of a second in the 100, and is ranked second in the 200, six-hundredths of a second ahead of Weber in third and three-tenths of a second behind leader Wyatt Metzger of Silverton.
Weber is top-ranked in the 400, by nearly a second.
Silverton looks to be Lebanon’s biggest challenge in the 4×100, half a second ahead of the second-ranked Warriors, but in the 4×400 they go into districts seven seconds ahead of the rest of the field, which looks to be tightly bunched through next seven scoring positions.
Large goes into districts a close second – by 4 inches – in the long jump, and 3 feet ahead of the rest of the field in the triple.
For the girls, Addy Pickles goes into districts ranked fourth in the 400 – after running it once, two weeks ago, and a second off her personal best, run at last year’s districts.
Savedra leads the league in the javelin, while Vandenbos and Pickles are 1-2 in the triple jump.
