The Sweet Home Police Department received multiple 911 calls regarding a physical disturbance near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Nandina Street on Monday, Aug. 31 at approximately 11:05 p.m.
The SHPD reported in a press release that officers arrived and found a citizen holding two of the involved individuals at gunpoint. The citizen cooperated with officers; however, the two individuals attempted to leave the area. An officer pursued one of them on foot before losing sight of him in a nearby apartment complex.
Officers contacted the second individual, Logan Gibbs, 20, of Sweet Home, who had suffered a stab wound. Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District medics responded and treated Gibbs for his injuries.
A short time later, SHPD dispatch received a report that an unknown male had entered a nearby apartment and may have been shot. SHPD officers and Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and detained the male. Officers determined he had not been shot and that he was the individual who had fled from officers.
He initially provided a false name but was later identified as Cruz Fisher Olguin Jr., 19, of Madras.
Another person involved in the disturbance, an unidentified 51-year-old Sweet Home resident, was transported to Lebanon Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Officers and detectives conducted interviews with those involved and witnesses.
Gibbs was arrested for assault III and disorderly conduct II. Fisher Olguin Jr. was arrested for assault III, disorderly conduct II and giving false information to a peace officer. Both were lodged at the Linn County Jail on their charges.
Witnesses reported that additional individuals may have been involved in the disturbance, including one person possibly named Caleb.
