Delays in expected payments from various other government agencies for services from local firefighters have left Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District short to the point that layoffs were under consideration, Chief Nick Tyler told Fire Board members at their monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Tyler said the problem is that the district “went into fire season with the impression that we would get paid within 30 days,” but that didn’t happen.
