For The New Era
Have you every been wanted to be a part of something bigger, doing something that has impact in the real world?
The City of Sweet Home needs a group of youth to advise them on issues concerning the youth, issues like the skate park. When the City Council isn?t asking for advice on topics the Youth Advisory Council will do projects for the youth, such as organizing a grand opening barbecue at the skate park.
A youth steering committee, with City Manager Craig Martin, has developed a Youth Advisory Council.
The advisory council will have openings for youths ranging from the sixth grade to the 12th grade, including home schoolers and East Linn Christian Academy students.
The new Youth Advisory Council will meet every first and ninth Thursday, and Council members will serve a term of one year.
If you feel like working toward the bigger picture, pick up an application at the front office of your school or contact Martin at City Hall, 1140 12th Ave., or call 367-8969.
I may be contacted at 367-4560.
