The 66th Annual Gem and Mineral Show was held in the Sweet Home High School Activities Gym Saturday and Sunday. The winner of the People’s Choice award was a display created by Larry Shipley.
Joe Cota, president of the Sweet Home Rock and Mineral Society said attendance was very high this year. Saturday attendance was probably around 2,200 to 2,300, with 500 children. “It was packed this year,” Cota said. “You always have glitches. the audio was our main glitch this time, but I’ve got the best workers there. These guys know what their jobs are, and it makes it easier for me. To me it went really good, and we had better attendance this year.” Cota wanted to especially thank School District 55 and Sweet Home High School.
