Accident on Highway 20

Paramedics assist the occupants of a 2004 Mercury that, an Oregon State Police log said, sideswiped another car on Highway 20 west of Sweet Home near milepost 22 on March 15. Police said Venetta Neisinger, 77, of Sweet Home was driving westbound about 10:35 a.m. when she blacked out and her car swerved into the eastbound lanes and into a 1991 Toyota driven by Randy Patterson, 44, of Newport. The passenger sides of both vehicles were severely damaged and Doria Patterson, 68, a passenger in the Toyota, suffered a broken pelvis, police said. Doria Patterson was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and Neisinger was taken to Lebanon Community Hospital. Patricia Cheeck, 54, driver of a 2002 Plymouth that was following Neisinger’s car, was injured when her vehicle was hit by flying debris, and Virginia Goss, 66, a passenger in Neisinger’s car, also suffered injuries, deputies said. No citations were issued at the scene and the case was turned over to the Department of Motor Vehicles, Oregon State Police said.
