Adella Lucille Goertzen, 75, of Sweet Home, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005. She was born in Kansas City, Mo. to John P. and Anna (Loewen) Winter.
At age 11 Adella accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was baptized into the Mennonite Brethren Church at age 12. She married Merle Goertzen Aug. 3, 1948 in the Mennonite Church in Hillsboro, Kan.
They worked together on their farm in Nebraska until 1978. She loved to garden, especially yellow roses. Mrs. Goertzen was a cook at several restaurants in Nebraska. They enjoyed traveling later in life. They moved to Sweet Home in 1999 from Boise, Idaho.
She is survived by her husband, Merle; her children, Frances Mae Wilson of Sweet Home, Beverly Ann Valentine of Aurora, Neb and Sharon K. Becker of Post Falls, Idaho; her brother, Vernon Winter; and her sister Geneive Abrahams; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Delford Winter, and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 19, at River of Life Fellowship. Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
