Agnes M. Schroeder, 90, of Sweet Home, died Sunday, Nov. 6, in Sweet Home.
She was born April 16, 1915 in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Harvey R. and Ida H. (Ostergren) Gardner.
She moved to Anaheim, Calif. when she was 13 years old and graduated from Alhambra High School in 1933. She graduated from the Los Angeles County School of Nursing at the Los Angeles County Hospital in 1938. She worked as a nurse in pediatrics and obstetrics at the Los Angeles County Hospital until her marriage to Quentin T. Schroeder on Jan. 9, 1943.
She moved to Sweet Home in 1957 and has lived there since. Agnes worked as a nurse at the Lebanon Community Hospital and later worked for doctor?s offices in Lebanon. She then worked for Dr. Benjamin Kenagy in Brownsville until retiring in 1976.
Agnes loved music and especially enjoyed playing the piano. She also liked to knit and sew. She loved to cook and entertain for meals. She was an avid reader and used to read to her children a lot while they were growing up.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jeppsen of Sweet Home and Carolyn Cogswell of Athena; her sons, Ted Schroeder of Glendale, Calif., Harvey Schroeder of Sweet Home and Charles Schroeder of Springfield; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Quentin T. Schroeder on Feb. 14, 1997.
