Agrees tree money should fix track

Editor:

Being graduated from Sweet Home High School and former track members, we wholeheartedly support Mr. Billy Snow’s position on the allocation of the Sweet Home Junior High tree fund.

It is time for the school district to stand behind its track program and put money where its mouth is.

For years, we have been encouraged to vote for school bonds because the money is “for the kids;” yet the track program has been forgotten in “for the kids” mantra.

This money is in no way tied to school bonds or taxes. This can be an opportunity to show us just how much it is for the kids.

Look at the football, basketball, volleyball and baseball programs. At least they can host sporting events on their own home turf. Sadly, the same cannot be said for the track program the last five years. We don’t argue for many things but equality is one of them.

This is an excellent opportunity to give the Sweet Home track program what it needs to be competitive with the other programs.

Please take Coach Snow’s proposal to heart.

Thank you.
