Alcohol criticism not very biblical

Editor:

In response to Victoria Peargin’s letter, “Alcohol shame to Christian witness” (April 20), I write this as a lover of Christ Jesus.

In regards to the pastor who opened a business that serves beer, he should be loved and not ridiculed.

The writer quotes the Bible, but I have read the Bible several times and it is full of passages acknowledging the joy of wine, which Jesus himself created at a wedding.

Of course, people need to be responsible and know their limits within the law, particularly when it comes to drinking and driving. God gave us a mind and judgment to use.

But I defend this pastor; he has done nothing wrong. Who are we to judge? We should love this man of God not ridicule him for selling beer. Beer contains even less alcohol than wine.

People who drink have their own responsibilities not to overdo it and hurt others. Do not blame our beloved pastors for this.
