Aletha Adele Putney, 83, of Sweet Home died Jan. 5, 2014.
She was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Velva, N.D. to Harry George and Ione Signe (Roulier) Hansen.
She grew up in Velva and married Donald Walter Putney there on Dec. 3, 1950. They moved to Sweet Home in 1961.
Mrs. Putney worked at Santiam Supply Auto Parts until she retired in 1995. She was artistic and loved to paint and sew. She also made many wedding cakes for family and friends, and she enjoyed bowling as long as she was able.
Aletha is survived by her daughter, Donette Jewell-Calkins and son-in-law Robert of Sweet Home; son Duane Putney of Sweet Home; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Putney (1990); brother Durelle Hansen; and great-grandson Ryan (2005).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in her name to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House.
