Allegedly drunken driver crashes into Oak Terrace home

A Brownsville area man was arrested for drunken driving and minor in possession of alcohol Sunday night after his vehicle crashed into the bedroom of an Oak Terrace residence.

Robert Wallace Dee, 20, was cited arrested at 900 Oak Terrace at about 9 p.m.

He had been traveling east on Oak Terrace, toward Long Street, Sweet Home Police Sgt. George Dominy said. A witness reported he was traveling in the wrong lane just prior to cresting the hill. He was slumped over, as if working on the stereo.

According to the investigation, Dee made swerved quickly to the right to avoid a head-on collision, Sgt. Dominy said. He overcorrected toward the left as he reached the bottom of the hill then drove through the driveway at 800 Oak Terrace. He started applying his brakes there and slid through a chainlink fence into a bedroom at 900 Oak Terrace.

Janice Kent, 46, was in that bedroom near the wall struck by Dee, Sgt. Dominy said. She heard the squealing tires and looked out her window to see the car closing on the house. She ran and escaped injury. She had moved into the home only a couple of days prior.
