Allen E. McNeer, 88, of Sweet Home died of congestive heart failure on Oct. 2, 2005 at his home.
He was the son of Otis and Grace (Leonard) McNeer. He was born on May 27, 1917 in Rago, Kan. He spent his childhood in Montrose, Colo., where he graduated from Montrose County High School.
Mr. McNeer served in the Army Corps Camp during World War II.
His marriage to Grace McNeer Fish ended in divorce. On Oct. 6, 1984, he married Virginia McNeer.
Prior to his retirement, he was a lumber camp worker.
Before he made his home in Sweet Home, McNeer lived in North San Juan, Calif.; Montrose, Colo.; and Oroville, Calif.
He was a member of the Christian faith.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, canning and hunting arrowheads.
Mr. McNeer is survived by his wife, Virginia McNeer; sons, Larry McNeer of Eagle Pointe, Corky McNeer of Montrose, Colo., and Allen McNeer Jr. of Monet, Mo.; daughters, Francine Maples of Maple Valley, Wash., and Sherry Goodhue of Montrose, Colo.; five grandchildren; and sisters, Alice Mae Starke Baum of Littleton, Colo., and Dorothy Habert of Semi Valley, Calif.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McNeer also was preceded in death by John McNeer, Wanda Weiss, Helen Dow and Marie Spurgin.
At Mr. McNeer’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place.
