Concerts in the Park continue

Lebanon’s Concerts in the Park series continues this year, with performances running from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Ralston Park, 925 Park St.

Remaining performances include:

– Rachael and the Rain Kings (Aug. 17);

– Grand Jazz and Swing Bands (Aug. 24); and

– Cashmere and Chaos (Aug. 31).

Admission is free. Concertgoers are advised to provide their own seating.

Summer Bands & Brews launches

The annual Summer Bands & Brews series runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays at Strawberry Plaza, 847 S. Main St., in Lebanon.

The park is located between Conversion Brewing and Hollywood Studio.

Performers include:

– SOS (Aug. 21); and

– DTW (Aug. 28).

Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Rotary Club hosts golf tournament

The Sweet Home Rotary Club is holding its fourth annual golf tournament beginning at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Pineway Golf Course, 30949 Pineway Road, Lebanon.

The “Best Ball 4-Person Scramble” begins at 4 p.m.

The entry fee is $60 per person and includes green fees, cart and dinner.

All proceeds support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Literacy program and local high school scholarships. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place finishers, closest to the pin and longest drive.

Lebanon citywide sale set for Aug. 21

A citywide garage sale presented by Lebanon Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Entek will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21.

Interested parties can pay $20 to advertise sales and list them on the master map.

Backpack/school supply giveaway

Sweet Home Emergency Ministries and the Sweet Home School District are hosting a backpack and school supply and clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21.

Some 250 elementary backpacks with limited school supplies and 100 empty backpacks for junior- and high-school students will be distributed at SHEM, 1115 Long St.

Clothing will be distributed in the parking lot of the River of Life Church, 1658 Long St.

Parents will be able to shop for themselves depending on availability at 2 p.m.

Children must be registered students in the Sweet Home School District and must be present at the event.

Meals on Wheels weekly menu

Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.

Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.

The menu on Friday, Aug. 20, is chicken pomodoro or a beef and cabbage bake, capri blend vegetables, spinach salad, herb roll and vanilla pudding.

The menu on Monday, Aug. 23, is orange-glazed chicken or homestyle pork patty with gravy, chantilly potatoes, green peas, raisin bread and spiced apples.

The menu on Tuesday, Aug. 24, is a chicken rice bake or vegetable lasagna (zucchini), succotash, spinach romaine salad, whole wheat roll and cranberry fluff.

SHHS’ 1971 class plots reunion

The Sweet Home High School Class of 1971 is holding a 50-year reunion gathering from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, on the northeast corner of Foster Reservoir east of Sweet Home.

The class has rented Picnic Area 1 and has hired Little Town Celebrations to serve a taco bar.

Cost is $13 per person or $25 per couple.
