Veteran rockers to play at Marks Ridge

The Brewketts – Mike Brewer, Pete “The Beat” Burger and Russ Whitlatch will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Marks Ridge Winery, 29255 Berlin Road.

All three Eugene-area musicians are veterans of the industry, playing with major figures in previous decades.

Brewer was one of the founding members of the Mary Butterworth Band in Southern California in the late 1960s, part of the psychedelic rock movement of the period. The band’s lone album, “Mary Butterworth,” became a cult hit.

He’s performed with heavy hitters such as Booker T. Jones, Lee Ritenour and the Elton John Band. He wrote “Feeling I Get,” featured in the Oscar / Golden Globe Award-winning movie “Lost in Translation,” starring Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson.

Burger has played with major blues figures such as James Cotton, Brian Setzer, Kingfish and many others, as well as rockers Chuck Berry and The Coasters.

Whitlatch has performed with Elvin Bishop, Maria Muldaur, Merle Haggard and more.

Bring your own picnic or snacks and enjoy open air seating at bistro tables or bring a chair or blanket.

The concert is one of weekly Friday night offerings through August at the winery, which will feature a wide range of musical styles. Cover is $10 per person. No outside alcohol is allowed.
