39th annual Family Fun Day at Linn-Benton Community College will be
held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in the LBCC Activities
Center gym, Albany campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd.
Activities
for children ages one to six include play dough, an obstacle course,
crafts, bounce house, face painting, putt-putt golf, used book and
toy sale, and more.
Activity tickets are 25 cents each.
Proceeds
support parenting programs and tuition grants for the nearly 2,000
parents in Linn and Benton Counties who attend LBCC Parenting
Education classes each year.

Muzzleloaders
to host frontier fair
Fort
Umpqua Muzzleloaders are holding their annual Frontier Heritage Fair
Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-21, at the Lane County Fairgrounds, 796
W. 13th Ave. in Eugene.
The
event features artifacts and replicas of pre-1898 America, including
the Mountain Man, Civil War and Old West eras. A special exhibit of
Oregon pre-history is planned, along with displays representing the
Hudson’s Bay Company, early explorers, historic Fort Umpqua, the
Applegate Trail and northwest coastal native art.
A
kids activity area and demonstrations of historic skills such as
spinning, beadwork, arrowhead making, quilting and a foot-powered
wood lathe will be part of the event.
Show
times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $3 for ages 12 and over, with children under 12 free.

to stage
‘Kiss
Me, Kate’
The
Oregon State University School of Arts and Communication will present
Cole Porter’s jazzy musical comedy, “Kiss Me, Kate,” Feb. 26-28
and March 3-5.
Performances
will be in the Withycombe Hall Main Stage theater, 2901 S.W. Campus
Way, Corvallis, on Feb. 26-27 at 7:30 p.m .; Feb. 28 at 2 p.m., and
March 3-5 at 7:30 p.m. Oregon State University Theatre and the OSU
music department are collaborating on the production.
The
madcap, romantic musical-within-a-musical is the story of how
egotistical leading man Fred Graham is reunited with his ex-wife,
Lilli Vanessi, when the two are forced to play opposite one another
in a new production of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew.
The
principal cast includes OSU students Eldon de la Cruz as Paul; Steven
Evans-Renteria as Nicely-Nicely; Taylor Fahlman as General Howell;
Phillip Hommes as Harry the Horse; Samantha Johnson as Lois Lane;
Quentin Kirk as Fred Graham; J. Garrett Luna as Bill Calhoun; Kimber
Parker of Sweet Home as Lilli Vanessi; Anna Patch as Hattie; Emily
Saalfeld as Madam Baptisa; Cory Warren as Ralph; Alex Weingargen as
