Family
Night Out new date Sept. 19
The
Sweet Home Boys and Girls Club Family Night Out at the Club,
originally planned for Thursday, Sept. 5, has been rescheduled for
Thursday, Sept. 19.
It
will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Club, 890 18th Ave.
The
original event was postponed due to the severe thunderstorm that hit
the area Sept. 5.
Everyone is welcome.
No
membership required and the event is free. There will be games, a
bounce house, dance-off, spaghetti dinner and more.

history books offered at discount
Mona
Waibel is offering a discount on her “Sweet Home’s Good Old Days”
book series.
Originally
$25, the books are being sold for $10 each. The money will be used to
send Sweet Home High School students to college. There are four
volumes in the set, full of historical photos and Mona’s stories
about local people and events from the past.

are available at The New Era, 1313 Main St. For more information

Eat
out for troops on Patriots Day
On
Patriots Day, Wednesday, Sept. 11, local restaurants in Sweet Home
will donate a portion of the days proceeds to Marine Corps Family
Foundation to help fund care packages to deployed troops of all
branches.
Participating
restaurants are: All Star Pizza, A & W Drive-In, Cedar Shack,
Skyline Inn Restaurant, Spoleto’s Pizzeria and Wine Shop, and The
Point.
Spoleto’s
will offer a Four Spirits Distillery Tasting from 6 to 8 p.m.
Organ
concert
Sept.
12 at LDS
An
organ concert will be held Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1155 22nd Ave., Sweet Home.
The
public is invited. Admission is free. Refreshments will follow.
Dr.
Henry B. Wolthuis and students Nick Tolman, Tatiana Tolman and Sean
Wolthuis will perform.
Marks
Slough Trail hike Saturday
Build
Lebanon Trails is offering a hike through the Marks Slough Trails on
Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m.
The
location offers a mostly even and paved trail and will take about an
hour to complete. All hikers will meet in the parking lot across from
The City of Lebanon Waste Water Plant. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are
welcome.

Honor
Flight needs fund-raiser items
Honor
Flight is hosting a fund-raiser sale on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11
and 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2225 Coburg Road, Eugene.
Linn
County donation days scheduled are Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. at the American Legion, 480 S. Main St., Lebanon, and
Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion,
1215 Pacific Blvd., Albany.
Items
especially wanted are household goods, sporting goods, tools,
clothing in good condition or serviceable furniture. Cardboard boxes,
paper bags and wire clothes hangers are also needed. Cash donations
are welcome.
Honor
Flight is an organization that sends World War II veterans to
Washington D.C. to see the World War II Memorial at no cost to the
veteran.

Over
the Rivers tour Sept. 19
The
Over the Rivers and Through the Woods Scenic Byway Committee is
offering a public tour on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cost
to participate is $15, payable to Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce.
Participants should meet at the Senior Center, 880 18th Ave.
The
tour will include a short hike to Lava Lake and an in-depth look at
the Historic Fish Lake area as well as the heritage of Hwy 20 as a
travel route. Bring a sack lunch, water, comfortable shoes and rain
gear.

Medicare basics in free class
Senior
Health Insurance Benefits Assistance is holding a free class that
covers the basics of Medicare parts A, B, C and D on Thursday, Sept.
19, from 10 to 11:50 a.m. at the Linn-Benton Community College
Lebanon Center Annex building, 44 Industrial Way.
Class
is designed for anyone who will be eligible or who is new to Medicare
and for current beneficiaries who would like a better understanding
of their Medicare benefits and options. Spouses and relatives are
welcome to attend the class.
Reservations

counselor and sponsored by Linn-Benton RSVP.

Chronic
conditions workshop at LBCC
A
free six-week workshop on Living a Healthy Life with Chronic
Conditions Self-Management Program begins Thursday, Sept. 19, from
12:30 to 2:50 p.m. at the Linn-Benton Community College Lebanon
Center, 44 Industrial Way.
This
workshop is for people with ongoing health conditions such as
diabetes, asthma, emphysema, heart conditions, high blood pressure,
MS, etc.

and Learn in Lebanon
A
free Lunch and Learn series will be held from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m.
beginning Sept. 23 at the Lebanon Senior Center, 80 Tangent St.

Pleistocene Project, Oregon Donation Land Claim Pioneers, and more.

Meals
on Wheels weekly menu
Meals
on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the
Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays,
Tuesdays and Fridays.
The
Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time
diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested
donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea
upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The
lunch menu on Friday, Sept. 13, is chicken parmesan or meatloaf with
gravy, whipped potatoes, Scandinavian blend vegetables, French bread
and chilled peaches.
The
menu for Monday, Sept. 16, is chicken a la king or beef liver and
onions, whipped potatoes, green peas, multigrain bread and frosted
yellow cake.
The
menu for Tuesday, Sept. 17, is meatloaf or shaved ham sandwich half
on wheat bread, corn chowder, country coleslaw and blushing pears.
