State University Extension Service is offering its summer food

preservation and safety hotline for queries on testing pressure

canner gauges, ensuring jam sets properly and preparing tomato salsa.

The

hotline at 1-800-354-7319 runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday,

Thursday and Friday from July 15 to Oct. 11.

Car

show, cruise-in at Cheadle Park

A

car show and cruise in for the Lebanon Community Foundation will be

Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at Cheadle Lake Park, off of Weirich Rd,

Lebanon.

It

is $10 to register your car in the show. The money will go to

maintaining and improving the park. Aluminum dash plates will be

provided for the first 50 pre-registered cars. There is a Hawaiian

theme. For $12 you can get an official car show shirt with a picture

of your vehicle. All pictures must be mailed or emailed before the

deadline listed on the application.

An

awards ceremony will be at 2 p.m. The Misplaced Tropics will be

playing live music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A flea market will be next

to the car show. Admission to both events is free. The Dajoys will

have a food trailer on site.

International Student Exchange Programs are seeking local families to

host exchange students.

are 15 to 18 years old and are coming here for the upcoming high

school year or semester. They are conversant in English.

MC Club plans music, BBQ

Northwest

Veterans M.C. of Sweet Home will host a Rock ’n’ Roll concert and

barbecue beginning at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday, Aug. 2-4, at

1228 Main St.

Admission

is $5. The band 3 Degrees Astray will play live music on Friday and

Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight. No minors are allowed in the Rock

’n’ Roll Arena. The barbecue dinner will be $8 a plate.

Alzheimer’s Network presents a discussion about taking care of

speaker is Dr. Vicki

Schmall, Ph.D., a Professor Emeritus in

Gerontology at Oregon State University and Executive Director of

Aging Concern in West Linn.

Meals

on Wheels weekly menu

Meals

on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the

Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays,

Tuesdays and Fridays.

The

Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.

First-time

diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.

Suggested

donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea

upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.

The

lunch menu on Friday, July 26, is fish patty with Tartar sauce or

sloppy joe on a bun, baked beans, Mandarin pineapple salad and

frosted white cake.

The

menu for Monday, July 29, is chicken patty marsala or beef

Swiss-style patty, Delmonico potatoes, broccoli and carrots, oat bran

bread and banana pudding.

The

menu for Tuesday, July 30, is chicken in peanut sauce over pasta or

beef stuffed green pepper, mixed vegetables, tossed salad, sunflower

seed roll and fresh orange.
