City of Sweet Home is hosting a community workshop from 6 to 7:30
p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at the park at 1340 Westwood Lane, to discuss
its future.
The
event will include free food and drinks, as well as plenty of
community conversation. This is your chance to weigh in.

Thursday evenings through the month of July in Sankey Park, 877 14th

Partners for Progress is offering its annual Concerts in the Park
series on Tuesday nights.

Hillside

theme this year is “Mount Everest: Conquering Life’s Challenges

Babysitting
class
for
kids 11 to 13
Young
people from 11 to 13 years old, who are interested in babysitting
work, can learn all they need to know at a Safe Sitter class this
summer at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
The
hospital’s next class will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday, July 24.
Cost
is $50, which includes an instruction manual, a messenger bag and
other supplies. Hospital employees Roxie Snyder and Jessica Lybarger,
certified program instructors, will lead the classes.
Safe
Sitter is a nationally recognized babysitter education program,
developed in 1980 by a pediatrician who was recognized by the
American Academy of Pediatrics.
Upon
completion, each student will receive a completion card. They will
also have access to an online newsletter which features a
babysitting survey, tips and activities to do when babysitting.

Sports
physicals for free July 25
Student
athletes needing a sports physical can get one for free on Saturday,
July 25, at the Mid-Valley Medical Plaza in Lebanon. Providers at the
plaza will offer the physicals from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a first-come,
first-served basis. Check-in is encouraged by 12:30 p.m.
The
clinic is located at 425 N. Santiam Highway on the Samaritan Lebanon
Community Hospital campus.
Students
must bring a sports physical form with them, with the first page
completed and signed by a parent or guardian, prior to the physical.
No physical will be provided without the completed form and
signature. A parent or guardian must be present at the time of the
physical.

Class
of 1985
reunion
July 25
Sweet
Home High School Class of 1985 will hold its 30-year reunion from 6
p.m. to midnight Saturday, July 25, at Pineway Golf Course.
Admission
is free. A no-host bar and food will be available.

Meals
on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the
Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays,
Tuesdays and Fridays.
The
Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested
donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea
upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The
lunch menu on Friday, July 17, is chicken pasta salad or Tuscan tuna
bean salad on spinach Romaine, vegetarian vegetable soup, wheat roll
and chilled peaches.
The
menu for Monday, July 20, is roast pork with orange glaze or country
steak with gravy, Colcannon potatoes, lima beans, cracked wheat bread
and hermit bar.
The
menu for Tuesday, July 21, is meatloaf or shaved turkey sandwich half
on wheat bread, minestrone soup, country slaw and applesauce.
