Blood drive begins July 22
A Red Cross-sponsored blood drive runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the old Wells Fargo bank building, 1266 15th Ave.
Potential blood donors should be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. They should also be in general good health and have not donated blood in the last 56 days, according to general Red Cross guidelines.

Free well water screening clinic
Well owners are invited to participate in a free nitrate screening clinic from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Waterloo City Hall, 31140 First St., Lebanon.
For a screening, bring a half-cup of unfiltered well water in a clean container. The test will take about 10 minutes to complete. Participants may wait for their results onsite or leave contact information. A water quality educator will be available during the clinic to answer any questions about well water and septic-tank issues.
Nitrate has been linked to increasing the risk of potential health effects.

Lebanon hosts concerts in park
Lebanon’s Concerts in the Park series continues this year, with performances running from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Ralston Park, 925 Park St.
Scheduled performances include:
– Red Diesel (July 20);
– The Teccas (July 27);
– DRTR (Aug. 10);
– Rachael and the Rain Kings (Aug. 17);
– Grand Jazz and Swing Bands (Aug. 24); and
– Cashmere and Chaos (Aug. 31).
Admission is free. Concertgoers are advised to provide their own seating.
Summer Bands & Brews Saturdays
The annual Summer Bands & Brews series runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays at Strawberry Plaza, 847 S. Main St., in Lebanon.
The park is located between Conversion Brewing and Hollywood Studio.
Performers include:
– Inner Limits (July 17);
– Greg Nestler Band (July 24);
– Beyond the Lamplight (July 31);
– Neil Gregory Johnson Trio (Aug. 7);
– Gabriel Cox (Aug. 14);
– SOS (Aug. 21); and
– DTW (Aug. 28).
Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Golf tournament scheduled
The Sweet Home Rotary Club is holding its fourth annual golf tournament at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Pineway Golf Course, 30949 Pineway Road, Lebanon.
Its format: “Best Ball 4-Person Scramble.”
The $60 per-person entry includes green fees, cart and dinner.
All proceeds support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Literacy program and local high school scholarships. Prizes will be awarded to first- and second place-finishers, closest to the pin and longest drive. To register, call 541-619-2683.
Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, July 23, is a “Friendsgiving Special” including roast turkey with gravy or a pork patty with gravy, whipped potatoes, green beans, dill bread and a lemon blondie.
The menu on Monday, July 26, is chicken fettuccine or a stuffed green pepper with beef, whole-kernel corn, carrot raisin salad, a whole wheat roll and an apple crisp.
The menu on Tuesday, July 27, is a Santa Fe turkey salad or an egg-BLTT (bacon, lettuce, tomato and turkey) salad, over spinach romaine, chicken tortilla soup, a sunflower seed roll and peaches.
