Reptile show at

library July 25

On Wednesday July 25 at 10 a.m. The Boys and Girls Club, with the sponsorship of the Sweet Home Public Library, will host the International Reptile Rescue.

Free ‘Teenagers’ sci-fi movie at mill

Movies at the Mill presents a series of classic films on Thursday evenings at Scroggin’s Mill, 280 W. Sherman St. in Lebanon.

This week’s movie on July 26, will be the 1959 SciFi film “Teenagers From Outer Space.”

Movies are screened on the side of the mill, so shows begin when it gets dark, generally about 9 p.m. A food vendor will be available.

Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Movies are made possible with a grant from the Linn County Cultural coalition.

‘Wonder’ movie

Friday at church

The Sweet Home Mennonite and River of Life churches are holding Friday movie nights at 1266 44th Ave. running through Aug 24.

There will free food and drinks each night as well as a free drawing for children 12 and under to receive a Veggie Tales movie.

This week’s movie is “Wonder” on July 27 at 8:30 p.m.

‘Queen of Rock’

Friday at winery

Marks Ridge Winery’s summer concert series continues on Friday evenings through August at 29255 Berlin Road.

This week’s performer, on July 27, is Christine Havrilla, “Queen of Rock.”

Bring your own picinic or snacks and enjoy open-air seating at bistro tables or bring a chair or blanket. Cover is $10 per person. No outside alcohol is allowed.

Day celebration

Mennonite Village will host its 19th Annual Older Americans Day Celebration from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, July 27, at 5353 Columbus St. SE in Albany.

Activities include a Walk for Wellness, music, tours, free lunch and homemade ice cream, and more.

play at The Woods

The Jimmy Haggard Band will perform at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at The Woods Roadhouse, 6099 Highway 20 in Foster.

The three-piece Eugene group plays a unique mix of blues rock, classic rock, rockin’ country and Jimmy’s specialty, electric blues.

‘The Music Man’ on stage in Lebanon

Lebanon Association for Theatre Arts will present Meredith Willson’s classic musical “The Music Man” at 7 p.m. July 24-28 at Lebanon High School Auditorium.

A matinee performance will be at 2 p.m. on July 28.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students and seniors. They are avaialble at the door or at lafta.webs.com.

Car show, BBQ at

Lebanon church

An Old Car Sunday & BBQ car/motorcycle/truck show will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Lebanon First Assembly of God church, 726 W. Oak St.

Barbecue and drinks will be available for purchase, and there will be live music. Trophies will be awarded for a wide variety of categories.

No entry fee. Pre-registration is limited to the first 200 vehicles. Registration forms may be picked up at the church office. Registration also available on site day of the event from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information, call (541) 259-1265.

Golf tournament

for veterans July 29

The fourth annual Link Up Vets Tournament will be held Sunday, July 29, at Mallard Creek Golf Club, 31966 Bellinger Scale Road, Lebanon.

A shotgun start begins at 8 a.m. The tournament will be scramble-style best-ball format play. The event includes live music, luncheon, and a raffle.

Link Up Vets is an organization dedicated to successfully engaging veterans in gaining the resources they need and creating events for veterans to participate in that will build community and support.

Fund-raiser for

memory care home

Timberwood Court Memory Care will host its second annual Blueberries Benefit Brains Fund-raiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Berkey’s Blueberries, 32589 Berlin Road, Lebanon.

Local musician Jobe Woosley and Co. will perform. The event will also include U-Pick blueberries, a silent auction, and a barbecue.

All proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

Cost for the dinner is $5.

The Point Sunday

The Point Summer Concert Series presents Elke Robitaille on Sunday, July 29, at 6305 Highway 20 in Sweet Home, next to Foster Lake. Performances start around 6 p.m.

Cowboy Cadillac will perform Tuesday, July 31, at the Sweet Home Farmer’s Market in the square at 12th and Kalmia in front of City Hall.

The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and features local vendors selling all manner of local produce and wares.

Free Advanced

Directive class

Beginning in August, Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital will offer free monthly classes for anyone with questions about how to fill out an Advanced Directive form.

The first will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 2 in conference rooms 1 and 2 in the back of the hospital, at 525 Santiam Hwy. SE, Lebanon.

Hospital Chaplain Wes Sedlacek will lead the classes, helping people complete their own form during each session. Drop-ins are welcome but registration is requested either by visiting samhealth.org/SLCHAdvanceDirective or contacting Sedlacek at (541) 451-7129.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.

First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.

Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.

The menu on Friday, July 27, is a Christmas in July menu with roast turkey or poultry with gravy or homestyle pork with gravy, whipped potatoes with gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, sunflower seed roll and zucchini mint brownie.

The menu on Monday, July 30, is turkey divan bake or baked beef rigatoni, green peas and carrots, marinated zucchini salad, white dinner roll and cherry whip.

The menu on Tuesday, July 31, is King Ranch chicken bake or lima beans and ham, dilled carrots, garden vegetable salad, cornmeal roll and banana chocolate chip bar.
