reopens in Albany
Gallery Calapooia, a local cooperative arts venue, reopened for business as of Tuesday, June 16. Reduced hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
The Virtual First Friday receptions are now held live on Facebook. See the gallery’s Facebook page for the next reception, July 3. The gallery is also open by appointment. Call 541-971-5701.
Gallery Calapooia, located in the historic Flinn Block in downtown Albany, and recently celebrated its 6th year of bringing fine art to the community.
The gallery is the cooperative effort of 21 artists. It is a nonprofit organization and donations to it are tax-deductible.

PEO berry sale to
fund scholarships
Sweet Home’s PEO Chapter DD is holding its annual berry sale, to raise money to help local women fund their educations, through July 9.
The blackberries, strawberries and blueberries are freshly picked prior to flash freezing, and delivered in 9-pound plastic pails.

Those purchasing berries will be able to pick them up in Sweet Home on on Aug. 8 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The pickup area will be on Long Street behind the Rio Theater.
All proceeds from the berry sale provide educational scholarships, loans and grants to women in our community.
Elks golf tourney
starts this Friday
The Sweet Home Elks are holding their annual Howard Drago Memorial Golf Tournament June 19-21 in a little different fashion than usual.
Each team will receive 18 holes of golf for each player, a coupon to redeem for a burger and two beverages that can be used for up to one year at the Elks or Pineway (after reopening), and a sleeve of golf balls. Golfers will have the option of playing anytime that weekend to score, or may save their golfing for another day that they choose, for up to a year.
Participants can also sign up for an “add on” to support a local business or donate to youth activities, which will include a chance to win prizes, including tickets for next year’s Oregon Jamboree.
Cost for a foursome is $240. Individual registration is $60. Proceeds go to various kids programs sponsored by the Elks.

LBCC offers class
on marketing
Linn-Benton Community College’s Small Business Development Center will offer a live remote workshop from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, on “What is SEM and How to Utilize It in Your Marketing Strategy?”
Instructors Stephen Hodges and Anne Whittington will discuss how SEM is different than SEO and can be helpful with an overall marketing strategy. Hodges will cover Google and Facebook ads, reporting and conversion.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, June 19, is roast turkey with gravy or barbecue smokehouse chop, creamed potatoes, succotash, squash bread and spice cake with frosting.
The menu on Monday, June 22, is chicken lo mein or cheese and green chile bake, broccoli, marinated spring vegetable salad, whole wheat roll and s’mores pudding.
The menu on Tuesday, June 23, is lima beans and turkey ham or chicken spaghetti, country trio blend vegetables, spinach romaine salad, cornmeal roll and Grace’s chocolate bar.
