Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers an on-site lunch at noon Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays to seniors over 60 at the Sweet Home Community Center.
There is a suggested donation of $3.50 per meal.
Meals are ordered in advance, and are the same meals as delivered to Meals on Wheels participants.
A menu will always be posted in the senior center’s dining room.
The menu on Friday, June 23, is a sloppy joe or buffalo chicken sandwich, whole kernel corn, apple cranberry coleslaw, a whole-grain hamburger bun and seasonal fruit.
The menu on Monday, June 26, is a beef mushroom patty or an herbed chicken patty with gravy, garlic-whipped potatoes, glazed carrots, French bread and chocolate cake.
The menu on Tuesday, June 27, is a tuna salad or ham and Swiss half-sandwich, corn chowder, confetti coleslaw, wheat bread and mandarin oranges.

Museum seeking sale donations
East Linn Museum is gearing up for its annual yard sale, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 14-15 at its location, 746 Long St.
The event coincides with the city’s Sportsman’s Holiday Weekend. Donations of clean, usable items such as clothing, housewares, sporting goods, kitchen items, etc., are welcome at the museum fundraiser. Large items such as furniture or electronics cannot be accepted.
Drop any donations off between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays at the museum.
‘Moonglow’ on stage in Albany
“Moonglow,” a comedy/drama about the effects of Alzheimer’s disease on patients and their families, will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 23, at Albany Civic Theater, 111 First Ave. W.
Evening performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on June 24, 29, 30 and July 1. A matinee performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25.
Tickets are $14 for adults, $11 for youths under 18, seniors 60 and over, U.S. military veterans and holders of Oregon Trail Cards. Tickets for streamed online performances are also available.

Golf tournament lands in Lebanon
Adult and Teen Challenge will hold a Swing for Hope Golf Tournament Friday, June 23, at Mallard Creek Golf Course, 31966 Bellinger Scale Road.
A shotgun start begins at 8 a.m. Cost is $125 per player or $500 for a party of four, which includes green fees, a golf cart and lunch.

Ruck march to remember fallen
The annual Lebanon Memorial March will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Carl’s Jr., 525 Weldwood Drive.
This is the fifth year for the 12-mile ruck march for charity, which ends at Thriftway in Sweet Home. The march is held in recognition of those who have sacrificed for America’s freedoms.
Help needed for fireworks show
The fireworks show returns at 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Cheadle Lake Park, 37941 Weirich Drive, Lebanon.
However, if spectators are to be allowed into the park, volunteer help is needed for parking and other activities.

First Friday block party set July 7
Lebanon Downtown Association will host a “Block Party & Star Spangled Sidewalk Sale” for its First Friday event from 4 to 8 p.m. on July 7.
There will be a barbecue, chips and drink special, sidewalk sales by downtown merchants, vendors, a passport raffle scavenger hunt, chalk walk and pie baking contest.

Chamber golf tourney July 7
Lebanon Chamber of Commerce and COMP-Northwest will host the chamber’s annual golf tournament at 8 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Mallard Creek Golf Course, 31966 Bellinger Scale Road.
The fundraising event offers a variety of entry opportunities for local teams in the shotgun-style event. Registration is at 7 a.m. at the golf course.
Participants have a chance to win a $2,000 Mallard Creek membership.

Sportsman’s Holiday coming
Sweet Home will celebrate its annual Sportsman’s Holiday festival July 7-8 with a variety of activities.
The Icebox Cut the Gut Cruise will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 7. The cruise features over 20 checkpoints throughout the city, where participants will have their passports stamped for a chance to win a raffle prize.
Participants are encouraged to bring their best rides to show off, and spectators are encouraged to sit along the route to watch the show. Registration is required to participate.
The Sportsman’s Holiday Parade takes place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, along Main and Long streets in downtown Sweet Home. This year’s theme is “Welcome to Wonderland.” Entries are $10.
The Logger Olympics pits teams of local forest industry professionals together in a variety of competitions at the Outdoor Events Center, 4001 Long St. It begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 8.
The Chips and Splinters musical show, featuring “Alice and Friends,” will take place at 7 p.m. in the parking lot at BiMart, 1980 Main St. Alice will be joined by her friends, Ariel, Ursula, Chef Louis, Princess Tiana, the Seven Dwarves, and more in a free family-friendly show.
Attendees can stay on site and watch the fireworks show, which will take place in Quarry Park, behind Bi-Mart.

Annual berry fundraiser set
Sweet Home P.E.O. Chapter DD is holding its annual berry fundraiser through July 7.
Proceeds provide educational scholarships, loans, and grants to women in the Sweet Home community.
The berries are freshly picked Columbia Star blackberries and blueberries, flash-frozen in nine-pound plastic pails. Released in 2014, Columbia Stars are vigorous, thornless, large and firm blackberries with a flavor rated as good or better than marionberry, which is 20% of Columbia Star’s parentage.

Those purchasing berries will be able to pick them up between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, on Long Street behind the Rio Theater.
Native American cultural events
Linn County will host three cultural encampments at local county parks.
The events bring Native Americans together in village-type settings, using tipis and tents, in which they share individual cultures and traditional information. A variety of U.S. tribes are represented.
Each encampment runs Friday through Sunday:
— June 23-25: Roaring River County Park, 42000 Fish Hatchery Drive, Scio.
— July 28-30: Waterloo County Park, 39510 Gross St., Lebanon.
— Aug. 25-27: Cascadia County Park, 48241 Cascadia Drive, Cascadia.
Events include a morning prayer at sunup, followed by the camp opening at 10 a.m., storytelling and flute music, craft classes, traditional dancing demonstrations and an evening prayer.

Exchange student hosts sought
International Experience, a nonprofit student exchange organization based in Monroe, is seeking local families to host foreign exchange students for the 2023-24 school year.
Host families provide safe and caring hospitality, meals, local transportation and a quiet place to study. Students provide their own spending money, school expenses and insurance. Children of host families are also eligible for scholarships to visit other countries through IE three-week summer immersion homestay programs.
