Love Thy Neighbor Services holds a Bingo Night fund-raiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at Home Sweet Home Cafe, 1333 Main St.
A limited menu will be available. Proceeds will benefit the organization’s outreach efforts, which include a youth program, outdoor school and a community garden.

Free lunch for kids
at local schools
Sweet Home School District offers free lunch to local children ages 18 and younger nearly daily through Aug. 24.
Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and breakfast from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Sweet Home High School, 1641 Long St.
Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Hawthorne Elementary School, 3205 Long St., and Oak Heights Elementary School, 610 Elm St.
Lunch is served from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Foster School, 5526 Poplar St.
Both breakfast, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and lunch, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., will be served at Little Promises, 28028 Pleasant Valley Road. Also, lunch will be served to attendees at Vacation Bible School at Bethel Lutheran Church (July 14-18) and First Baptist Church (June 23-27).
No lunch will be served on July 4, due to the holiday, or Aug. 2-3, due to the Oregon Jamboree.
Lunch is also served from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at Ashbrook Park, at 28th Avenue and Juniper Street; Northside Park, at 11th Avenue and Redwood Street; and at the Skate Park, 1920 Long St.

Fund-raiser for
boy with leukemia
Sugar City Brews, in the Thriftway parking lot in the 600 block of Main Street, will host a fund-raiser for Noah Holman on Thursday, June 28.
The 2-year-old is battling leukemia. For every drink sold, $1 will be donated to help with Noah’s expenses.
There will also be a booth where supporters can pick up #TEAMNOAH T-shirts.

at Lebanon forum
Charlie Mitchell of the Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College will speak at the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce Forum Lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital Career Training Center, 525 N. Santiam Hwy.
The menu will be a five salad bar (chicken salad, tossed salad, pasta salad, broccoli delight and fruit salad), rolls and butter, and

Golf tournament for B&G Club
Linn-Co Federal Credit Union will hold its Golf Palooza charity golf tournament beginning at 7 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Pineway Golf Course.
The event is a benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Santiam.
Tee times run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a barbecue lunch and music all day long.
Cost is $500 per foursome, which includes the meal, two carts, four drink tickets and four tickets to a live performance by Cloverdayle at 8 p.m.

Steelhead Strength and Fitness is hosting a free Fitness in the Park event for the public at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at Sankey Park.
Steehhead is offering a free hour of functional training, pilates and pound exercises led by its staff. Children are welcome. Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat or towel.
Concert band to
perform Saturday
The Willamette Valley Concert Band will present a Patriotic Pops Concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 30, at the Sweet Home High School auditorium.
This will be the band’s first performance in Sweet Home. The 50-member ensemble includes adult musicians from Linn and surrounding counties. It has been directed since 1972 by Dr. Richard Sorenson, emeritus director of bands at Western Oregon University,
The concert, billed as a “Potpourri of Music,” features a wide variety of music including Broadway show tunes, big band swing favorites, patriotic music and traditional marches.
Patriotic selections will include “Land of Liberty,” a medley of well-known American patriotic songs, arranged by John Wasson.
The concert is sponsored by the City of Sweet Home and the Linn County Cultural Coalition.
Ty Curtis to play
Sunday evening
The Point Summer Concert Series presents Ty Curtis Sunday, July 1, at 6305 Highway 20 in Sweet Home, next to Foster Lake.
Performances start around 6 p.m.
Curtis, of Salem, plays bluesy throwback rock ’n’ roll “with an undeniable southern-fried ambiance.” His rendition of “5 Long Years” by Eddie Boyd earned his band second place in The International Blues Challenge and led to performances at The Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada and the St John Blues Festival USVI.

Merkle to play at Farmers Market
Merkle Music will perform Tuesday, July 3, at the Sweet Home Farmers Market in the square at 12th and Kalmia in front of City Hall.
The event runs from 2 to 6 p.m. and features local vendors purveying all manner of local produce and wares. Musical performers appear each week at the market, which is scheduled to run through the summer.
Star Spangled
Celebration July 4
The Star Spangled Celebration will be held Wednesday, July 4, at Cheadle Park.
Gates open at 6 p.m. Parking is $10 per carload or $3 each for walk-ins.
Activities include magic performances, live music, face painting and kids crafts, a bounce house ($1 per bounce, $5 per wristband), and food vendors.
The Fire in the Sky Fireworks Show will run from 10 to 10:30 p.m.

Meals on Wheels
weekly menu
Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, June 29, is turkey pasta or chef salad over spinach Romaine, pickled beets, whole wheat dinner roll and spiced applesauce.
The menu on Monday, July 2, is sweet and sour chicken with brown rice or macaroni and cheese, green beans, spinach Romaine salad, herb roll and gelatin jewels with whipped topping.
The menu on Tuesday, July 3, is a July 4 picnic theme: barbecued chicken sandwich or kielbasa with sauerkraut and mustard on a bun, baked beans, carrot raisin salad and confetti Fourth of July cake.
Volunteers are needed for both kitchen help and meal delivery.
