Meals on Wheels weekly menu
Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, July 1, is an Independence Day special featuring a barbecue DC chicken sandwich or kielbasa sausage on a a hot dog bun, chuckwagon corn, confetti coleslaw, and lemon pudding with berry.
The Senior Center is closed Monday, July 4, for Independence Day.
The menu on Tuesday, July 5, is creamy pasta with vegetables or beef and black-bean chili, a San Francisco vegetable blend, green pea salad, a French roll and ice cream.

Free lunches available to kids
The Sweet Home School District is offering free summer lunches to children 18 and under at the following locations:
— Through Aug. 19: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Pleasant Valley Little Promises, 28028 Pleasant Valley Road, (breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.); 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Sweet Home High School, 1641 Long St. (breakfast is served from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m.); 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., around the back of Foster Elementary School, 5526 Poplar St., Foster; 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Oak Heights Elementary School, 610 Elm St., Sweet Home; and noon to 12:30 p.m., Ashbrook Park, 28th Ave. and Juniper St., Sweet Home.
— Through July 22: noon to 12:30 p.m., Sweet Home Junior High School, 880 22nd Ave. (breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9 a.m.).
No meals will be served at any of these sites July 4 or Aug. 1.

Blood drive set Wednesday
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the former Wells Fargo building, 1266 15th Ave.

Museum accepting donations for sale
The East Linn Museum seeks donations for its annual fundraising yard sale, scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the museum, 746 Long St.
Household items, clothing, books, tools, sporting goods and more will be accepted. Please bring these donations to the museum between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Volunteers are also needed to help set up the sale and to assist throughout the day.

Lebanon park concerts scheduled
Summer music fires up in early July with Lebanon’s Concerts in the Park on Tuesdays and Summer Bands and Brews on Saturdays.
Summer Bands and Brews starts Sunday, July 3, at Strawberry Plaza, 847 S. Main St., with Briana Renea performing.
Jobe Woosley will headline on July 10, followed by Inner Limits on July 17.
Concerts in the Park series kicks off Tuesday, July 12, at Ralston Park, 925 Park Street, Lebanon.
Concerts begin at 6 p.m.
James F. Wright will perform on July 12. Hank and Bill Shreve are on stage July 19.
WVCB to perform in Monmouth
The Willamette Valley Concert Band will celebrate Independence Day with a two-hour free concert Sunday, July 3, at the Main Street Park in Monmouth, at 120 Main St. E.
The Independence Day program will include a wide variety of marches, music by famous popular composers and by jazz great Duke Ellington.
Led by John Russell, the band will play marches by John Philip Sousa and Henry Fillmore, popular pieces from Broadway, songs by Henry Mancini and film score composer John Williams, “76 Trombones” from “The Music Man”), and even a medley of songs by jazz great Duke Ellington, such as “I Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good)” “”C Jam Blues,” “In A Mellow Tone” and more.
Admission is free.
Softball camp for local girls July 11
The Sweet Home Softball Association is holding a free softball camp for incoming second- through eighth-grade athletes from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, July 11-12, at the Sweet Home High School softball fields on 18th Avenue, near the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Santiam.

After 5 celebrates America program
After 5 Connection is holding a special program, “Celebrate America,” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Ma’s Restaurant, 2416 S. Santiam Highway, Lebanon.
All ladies and gentlemen are invited.
The evening will feature fun, food, games, prizes, audience participation and a patriotic sing-along. Guest speaker Reshma Ahmed, of Beaverton, will share an inspiring story of a life-changing personal encounter.
Cost is $15, which includes everything. Credit cards cannot be accepted.

Tickets available for county fair
Reserved seating tickets are available for main stage entertainment at the Linn County Fair, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, July 14-16, at the Linn County Expo Center, 3700 Knox Butte Road E, Albany.
Fair hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
This year’s headliners include Sara Evans on July 14, Five for Fighting on July 15 and Sawyer Brown on July 16. All performances begin at 8:30 p.m.
General seating is free with daily admission ($7 general, $5 seniors over 60 and free for children 12 and under), but reserved seats are $22-$30. Daily parking is $5. (Admission for Thursday, July 14, will be free for active military members and seniors.)
Three-day passes are $21 general, $15 for seniors and FFA/4-H members and $15 for parking. A family fun pack for the carnival is $120, which is good for any single day of the fair and includes four general admission tickets and four all-day carnival wristbands. A Pick-Your-Day Fun Pack, which includes one of each item, is available for $35. An all-day carnival wristband is available for $32 by Sunday, July 10.

SH Class of 1977 schedules reunion
Sweet Home High School’s Class of 1977 is celebrating its 45-year reunion Saturday and Sunday, July 16-17, with a series of events at various locations.
A walk will begin, weather permitting, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the upper parking lot at McDowell Creek Falls County Park, 43170 McDowell Creek Drive, Lebanon. A meet and greet follows at 2 p.m. at Pineway Golf Course, 30949 Pineway Road, Lebanon, with conversations to catch up and discuss the “Kids Don’t Float” fundraiser life jacket loaner locations at Foster Lake and Camp Attitude. A buffet dinner will be served at 5 p.m. The cost for the latter is $25 per person. Umpqua Bank has an account for the deposit of the dinner cost and fundraiser donations.
Sunday features an 11 a.m. worship invitation, followed by a 12:30 classmate potluck and sandwich lunch at Freedom Hill Church, 2470 Main St., Sweet Home.

Guitars Under the Stars tickets, camp
Advance tickets remain available for the fifth annual Guitars Under the Stars, a four-day intensive music camp and two-day festival scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, July 27-30, at Cheadle Lake Park, 37941 Weirich Drive, Lebanon.
The Guitars Under the Stars Music Experience Camp for youth, which features 20 guest counselors – all of whom are professional musicians and producers slated to perform at the festival, overseeing a variety of courses – begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, and concludes at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30.
