Democrats to talk Clean Energy bill

Representatives from Renew Oregon and the Oregon League of Conservation Voters will give an update on the Clean Energy Jobs Bill during the Thursday, June 6, meeting of the Linn County Democrats at Albany Public Library, 2450 14th Ave. S.E.

A social time, with light refreshments, begins at 6 p.m. The meeting starts at 6:30. Children are welcome.

Renew Oregon is a clean energy advocacy coalition of businesses and workers, healthcare professionals and parents, farmers and ranchers, faith and community organizations and individuals.

The Oregon League of Conservation Voters’ mission is to “work within local and state governments to demand clean air and water, healthy forests and wildlife, and a renewable energy future for all Oregonians.”

Both organizations are lobbying for passage of the Clean Energy Jobs Bill in the Oregon Legislature.

If enacted, according to Renew Oregon, it would become “a policy to cap and price climate pollution from the largest emitters in the state, and reinvest the proceeds into Oregon’s clean energy economy to create good-paying jobs and make our air cleaner.”

With an emphasis on faith, service and fun, girls choose from more than 240 badges, participate in service projects, leadership opportunities and outdoor experiences. Troops are led by adult volunteers who facilitate the AHG program while encouraging girl leadership.
