Openings for local

youth work crew

The Sweet Home Ranger District is recruiting for a five-week summer youth crew program from June 19 to July 21. A second session may be added July 31 through September 1, based on interest and funding.

Northwest Youth Corps has partnered with USDA Forest Service and the Sweet Home Ranger District to create Northwest Youth Corps Community Crew.

Crew members will learn how to build trails, enhance natural habitats, remove invasive plant species and develop many other valuable outdoor skills.

Tuition is $125 per participant and youth will receive a stipend of up to $1,250.

The crews work Monday through Friday, an average of 6.5 hours and have one of education daily.

Free Medicare class in Lebanon

A free Medicare Class will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the Linn-Benton Community College Lebanon Annex, 44 Industrial Way, Lebanon.

The class will give a better understanding of Medicare benefits and options.

Spouses and other relatives are welcome to attend.

Reservations are required. The class is free.

Spaghetti dinner

Home Sweet Home Cafe is hosting a Spagetti Dinner Fund-raiser for Love Thy Neighbor Services from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 23.

The meal will include salad, garlic toast, drink, and dessert.

Cost is $5 for kids, $8 for a regular meal, and $10 for a large meal.

Governor to speak

at Lebanon Forum

Gov. Kate Brown will speak at a forum lunch from 11 to 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Boulder Falls Event Center, 505 Mullins Drive.

A chicken parmesan lunch will be served.

Cost is $15 per person. Reservations are required. Reservation deadline is Thursday, March 23.

Meals on Wheels weekly menu

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

The menu on Friday, March 17, is corned beef with cabbage or macaroni and cheese, green peas, carrot Mandarin salad, caraway rye roll and shamrock cake.

The menu on Monday, March 20 is chicken and dumplings or spaghetti with meat sauce and a French roll, green peas and onions, spinach Romaine salad and zucchini brownie.

The menu on Tuesday, March 21, is lima beans and ham or beef shepherd’s pie, herbed carrots, Romaine iceberg salad, French roll and orange whip.
