Art instructors’
work on exhibit
An exhibit of work by three art instructors from Linn-Benton Community College’s Benton Center will be shown through Dec. 11 in LBCC’s North Santiam Gallery, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany.
A reception and gallery talk will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in NSH Gallery second floor atrium.
The exhibit represents a wide range of artistic approaches brought to the Benton Center art department by the three artists; from the colorful and diverse paintings by Mark Allison, to the expressive, monumental mixed media drawings of Andrew Myers, to the delicate, sophisticated, and whimsical ceramics of Renee McKitterick.
McKitterick is the new ceramics instructor at the Benton Center, coming to Corvallis most recently from New Mexico, where she completed her MFA in 2012. This summer she did a residency in Jingdezhen, China studying ceramic and glazing techniques. Most of McKitterick’s work in this exhibit, which includes pottery, sculpture, and installation, was created during her time in China.
An art instructor at LBCC for over 20 years, Allison’s work ranges widely from abstract, geometric patterns to painterly landscapes. His concern for composition and color is consistently strong. Included in this exhibit are works in watercolor, gouache, acrylic and oil paint.
Myers teaches classes in drawing at LBCC and OSU. His mixed media works fuse drawing with installation and sculpture, building his creations by drawing, arranging, re-drawing, and re-arranging elements into assembled constructions. Included in this exhibit are three large works, which Myers installed directly to the walls of North Santiam Hall.
North Santiam Hall Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
