Can drive to raise
money for S.A.F.E.
2021 S.A.F.E. Party organizers will hold a can drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at O’Reilly’s parking lot, on the corner of Main Street and 10th Avenue.
Cans may be dropped off at the location or collected by contacting Brandi at (541) 401-7167.
Trails group to
host walk Saturday
Build Lebanon Trails group will host a walk along what will be the Old Mill Trail, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Cheadle Lake North Shore parking lot off River Drive.
Participants will walk from the north side of Cheadle Lake Park to Gill’s Landing and back, three miles total, on what will become the Old Mill Trail, a major and scenic piece of the trail system. The walk has dirt and gravel segments and follows the dikes and flood plain along the South Santiam River.
The Old Mill Trail is BLT’s next major project.
Well-mannered dogs are welcome, if walker brings appropriate clean-up materials.

Foster Dam Road
closure next week
Foster Dam Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 15 and 16, for maintenance on the spillway and to remove the fish weir.

Mask-Arade to be
B&G fundraiser
The Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Santiam will hold a Champions of Children Mask-Arade fundraiser beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in both Sweet Home and Lebanon.
The event will include a live auction and dinner from 7 to 8 p.m. and live music from 8 till 10.
Appetizers, dinner and live entertainment are included in the admission – $1,200 for a table of six, in-person, or virtually (two adults) for $300. Virtual attendees will have access to the silent and live auctions via their tablets or smartphones. Their appetizers and drinks will be delivered.
Due to state mandates, capacity is limited for actual attendees.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, Sept. 4, is turkey divan or Bavarian beef stew, green beans, broccoli salad, garlic roll and spiced apple sauce.
No meal will be served Monday, Sept. 7, due to the Labor Day holiday.
The menu on Tuesday, Sept. 8, is kielbasa sausage or buffalo-style chicken sandwich, both on a bun, baked beans, pickled beets and butterscotch pudding.
