Casualty drill ‘actors’ needed

Volunteers are needed to play roles in a mass casualty drill to be conducted Thursday, Oct. 20, by Samaritan Health Services and Oregon State University.

The drill will take place from 6 a.m. to noon and will involve four separate locations, including Reser Stadium, Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Samaritan Albany General Hospital and Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. It will simulate a gas line explosion at Reser Stadium during a home football game with mass casualties and injuries.

The drill will test how well the different organizations within Benton and Linn counties communicate with each other during a disaster. The exercise will be realistic with emergency response vehicles and REACH aircraft transporting actors to the different event locations.

Volunteers of all ages are still needed to fill multiple roles at each location. Volunteer positions include victims and patients who will be given simulated disaster wounds and make-up to play the part, make-up artists, photographers, experienced actors and those proficient in foreign languages.
