Arrest made in SH shooting after victim found in car

UPDATED March 28 3:05 p.m.:

Trevor Paul Webb, 24, was charged with murder and felon in possession of a firearm in the shooting death of Ryan Chamberlain, 36.

Webb was held in the Sweet Home jail overnight. He was charged the morning of March 28 and transported to Linn County Jail.

At approximately 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 27, the Sweet Home Police Department received several reports of gunshots around the 1600 block of 13th Avenue, a residential area.

Police responded and located the Chamberlain in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, north of the intersection of 13th Avenue and Poplar Street. He had several gunshot wounds, according to police.

Medics from the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District transported Chamberlain to an area hospital.

He was declared dead at 10:22 a.m. on March 28, according to a SHPD news release.

Chamberlain is listed as a transient in the Sweet Home and Scio areas, Police Chief Jeff Lynn said.

The Sweet Home Police Department is conducting the investigation with assistance from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Major Accident Investigation Team.
