Artis J. Walker Swofford Isom, 83, of Sweet Home, died July 2, 2009.
She was born April 6, 1926 in Sligo, Mo., to Thomas V. Walker Sr. and Rita J. (Chambers) Walker, the oldest of seven children.
She lived in Sligo until 1934 when the family moved to Sweet Home. From there she moved to Petersburg, Alaska in 1948, where she worked as an EMT. She returned to Sweet Home in 1997.
Mrs. Isom enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting.
She is survived by her sisters, Lucile Loux of Sweet Home and Louise Maxwell of Tacoma, Wash.; brothers, Bill Walker of Montrose, Colo., Bob and Mel Walker both of Sweet Home; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Isom; son Gary Swafford; and brother Thomas V. (Toad) Walker Jr.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Gilliland Cemetery.
