Ashley Wickline, Hailey Nicholson named MVP in girls soccer

Ashley Wickline and Hailey Nicholson were named most valuable players by their teammates during the girls soccer team’s annual awards dessert held Thursday.

Other award winners included Hannah Jewett, best defender; Maddee Hawken, best midfielder; Milah Weld, best forward; Mikkala Weld, Rookie of the Year; and Sarah Dunkley, Hustle Award.

The Coach’s Award went to five girls, Allison Wickline, Ashley Wickline, Sarah Dunkley, Hailey Nicholson and Jessi Thomas.

Dunkley was in Hawaii during the presentation, but she participated using a cell phone and the FaceTime app. Her teammates also held up a cutout photo on a stick when she was called forward to accept awards. Nicholson was absent.

Nicholson had a great year at goalie, said Coach Ramiro Santana. She had 153 stops, including 123 shots on goal.

The Wickline twins led in scoring, with four goals each. Cora McKee, Thomas and Hawken each had two goals, and Milah Weld scored a goal.

The team finished 1-9 in league and 1-11-1 overall.

Earning first-year letters were seniors Makenna Ashton, Chiara DiMola, Katelyn Glover and Dakota Garcia and junior McKenzie Yoder.

Second-year lettermen were seniors Amber Doles and Lilly Parker; juniors Kenzi Adams, Hannah Jewett, Kaylee Lewis and Chloe Newport; and sophomores Hailey Nicholson, Cora McKee, Kendyl Stutzman, Jessi Thomas and Milah Weld.

Seniors Sarah Dunkley and Maddee Hawken earned their third letters in soccer.

Seniors Ashley and Allison Wickline earned their fourth letters in soccer.
