Athletes set PR’s in Eugene track meet

It was a big night for Sweet Home in the pole vault pit Thursday, July 17, as three local vaulters PR’d in an all-comer’s track and field meet in Eugene.

Dakotah Keys, who will be competing in the Junior Olympics national meet this weekend in the decathlon, tuned up for that event by hitting a school-record 14-0 in the pole vault and adding a 6-2 personal best in the high jump.

James Myers, who, like Keys, will be a junior this year, cleared 11-6 for a personal best in the vault. Nikki Smith cleared 10-6, which wasn’t his PR, but was a good height for him, coach Lela Danforth, who accompanied the group, said.

In the girls vault, Caroline Amendola, who will be a sophomore this year, cleared 6-6 for a personal best.
