Aug. 18 Holley Fair features food, music, more

Linn County’s longest-running summer fair is back again this year.

The Holley Grange Community Fair, dating from 1903, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 18 at the Grange Hall in Holley.

The event was not held last year, but fair Chairman Jim Gourley expressed the Grange’s desire that the celebration will continue to be an annual occurrence.

Gourley promises that there will be something for everyone to enjoy at the free community fair. There will be continuous entertainment all day at the outdoor stage including singing by Sweet Home’s Norma Jean and other vocalists.

The fair kitchen will produce food all day, and members of the public are invited to visit and have lunch. There will be contests and prizes as well.

Inside the hall, there will be exhibits and demonstrations. Area residents with items they would like to enter for judging are encouraged to bring them to the hall by 9 a.m. Suitable entries include garden produce, fruit, canning, baked goods and flowers. Individuals with interesting demonstrations can also register to participate.

Individuals willing to volunteer their help for all or part of the day are asked to call Gourley. Donations of cakes and cookies for the cake walk also are welcome. Gourley may be reached at 367-5517.
