Austin Irwin Sr., 75, of Sweet Home died in his home Dec. 24. 2016 after a long battle with emphysema and COPD.
He was born Nov. 9, 1941 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho to William S. and Mary J. (Chappell) Irwin.
Mr. Irwin worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He was a member of Sweet Home Christian Church. He loved God, his family and his dog Bear.
Austin enjoyed wood working, gardening and watching wrestling. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and unmistakable laugh.
Mr. Irwin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary L. Irwin of Sweet Home; five children, Austin Irwin Jr. of Boise, Idaho, Sara Romans of Umatilla, Sheryl Hauth of Pine, Ariz., Daryl Irwin of Sweet Home, and Beverly Marick of Arlington; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Jennifer Nies of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; and brother James Irwin of Kellogg, Idaho; as well as many honorary children and grandchildren.
Mr. Irwin was preceded in death by his father, William S. Irwin; mother Mary J. Irwin; and brothers William and Ernie Irwin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
